All that needs to be said about tonight's game, compliments of Coach McLellan.

“He wasn’t any good,” San Jose coach Todd McLellan said about Niemi. “I protect him a lot and talk about the team. He has to be better, flat out has to be better. They scored four goals on net play, rebounds, picking up the garbage, wraparounds, jams. That’s our D men. That’s our low forwards. So everybody has some responsibility, but (Niemi) knows he has to be better.”

Ok, so even though that's all that needed to be said, I'll go ahead and add some more...

For those who haven't traveled the 3,000 miles from SJ, I have to say TB has a pretty nice building. The tesla coils hanging above the ice are pretty cool, though I saw way too much of that lightning tonight!

Crowd was pretty dead until the third period and OT, of course the Sharks pretty much steamrolled the Bolts in the second. Nothing to really get excited about, unless they were cheering when they cleared their zone.

Even in the first period, it had the feel of one of those games where you could feel that the Sharks would really rue missing all their chances... and then Niemi happened . Damn.

Oh well... back on to get two points in Carolina before the trip gets much tougher as the Sharks head back into the Western Conference/Central Division for a game at Joe Louis arena... maybe they'll get to break that winnind streak the Wings have going.

The Sharks should have taken all four from the Bolts/Canes, and now they'll have to work hard tomorrow to make sure they get three. Greiss was pretty bad his last game. Here's hoping he's a lot better tomorrow!

Moore is a nice player, but i think a 2nd rounder was a little bit much, wonder if you guys could of gotten a better player maybe with that pick.
Also Moore has injury issues,
Sharks just need a 1 winger, 1 D-man, an a goalie, are your ready to make noise
Good luck................

Heard the press conference announcing the trade went something like this.

Wilson: Today we acquired Dominic Moore from Tampa Bay for the 2nd round pick we acquired from Minnesota in the Brent Burns deal. Moore is the missing piece for our long Stanley Cup run, we are proud to have him on his 8th team, and the 6th in 5 years, he makes a valuable addition.

I will take your questions now.

David Pollak, Mercury News: When is the caffertia open? Wilson, right after the press conference.

Any other questions? Okay! thank you all for coming.

Again, our goalie cost us the game IMO. If Niemi had been just average we would have won in regulation. Not that it matters now.
I want Greiss in goal tonight. Niemi needs to sit and refocus.

Looking ahead a little on Sunday we might get a chance to break that epic Detroit streak.

Any news on Douglas?

Possible adams apple fracture. Hoping to play Sunday is what I've heard.

I traded Bobby Ryan for Logan Couture about two weeks ago and he has something like 14 points in his last 8 or 9 games. Man I love this kid and I predict he takes over as perennial scoring leader on this team as early as next year if not this year.
My keeper league has been going for 32 plus years now and Logan is one of my untouchables. I drafted him a few years ago and traded him before he made it and regretted that trade. Now he is mine and is my fav player. Logan 39, want to name my new puppy after him, a Boston terrier boy named Logan. Ha ha

Almost want to try and bring Nabby back?? Niemi is so inconsistent that win a cup is like a crap shoot not knowing who will show up during the playoffs. Greiss has played better lately but holy this is a great team and goaltending is the biggest concern to me. I really believe Smith, Quick, Luongo/Schneider give their team an edge or Sharks because of what they bring that Niemi does not. Losing last night was a joke!

Yeah - I totally agree. In the west, I'd add Rinne and Halak to that list of teams that get an edge over the Sharks because of their goalie's. The only "contender" with a shakier goal tending situation I think would be the Hawks.

With exception of last year from February'ish to the playoffs, Niemi seems to have always been rather inconsistent. Griess scares the hell out of me. I'd feel better if Nittymaki were here pushing Niemi a bit.

Niemi was the difference in the WCF's when he was with Chicago and beat us. He made Nabby look bad. Hopefully he can get out of this funk and go back to being a dominant goalie.

Yeah...but that's on Columbus. He's never had any support really.

I'd love to get him on the Sharks - a real power forward. One that can skate, can stick handle and can score. Plus, it would keep him from landing in a place like LA or Vancouver!

But not sure I'd want to part with what it would likely take to make that deal happen.
